Myiesha Beard was recently appointed by the Metropolitan Council of East Baton Rouge Parish to the Board of Commissioners at Lane Regional Medical Center. She replaces Jordan Charlet who served for more than 9 years.
Myiesha is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with more than 20 years of experience. An honor graduate of Southern University in Psychology, she holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and is a National Certified Counselor, Certified Trauma Professional, second tier Anger Management Specialist, and court appointed counselor.
She owns an independent private/outpatient practice in Zachary where she provides clinical solutions in the realm of individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Her areas of expertise include dual diagnosis, depression, ADHD, anxiety, family conflict, mediation, and marital issues.
Community service is Myiesha’s passion. In 2015, she founded the Teen Lead Mentoring Group to provide mentorship to teens in East Baton Rouge Parish and surrounding areas. Myiesha is currently serving as co-leader of the Crisis Intervention Ministry at Living Faith Christian Center, as a board member and ambassador of the Zachary Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Mayor’s City Beautification Committee, Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council, Northwestern Middle School’s PTO, Zachary Regional Arts Council, and Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Professionally, Myiesha was named 2021 Woman in Business award by the Zachary Chamber. She is immediate past president of the Louisiana Mental Health Counselors Association and is currently communications chair of the American Mental Health Counseling Association and a member of Chi Sigma Iota Professional Honors Society and Louisiana Counseling Association.
Myiesha and husband Tafari live in Zachary with their three sons.
